Here are a few snaps from our alternative tour lead by Leo who we stayed with in Berlin. Most of the photos are of Kunsthaus Tacheles, which is an old derelict building occupied by artists with a very interesting history. It originated as a Jewish department store and I wont try to relay all the information I learnt on the tour, but worth an internet search for sure. The building is covered in graffiti and inside there are different rooms and levels where artists display their work, most of the photos here were quickly snapped so they aren’t great, but maybe give you a little idea of what it’s like inside.
There are a few other photos at the East Side Gallery and one of a great piece done by the graffiti artist BLU, which takes up the entire side of a building. A great video on YouTube to check out is MUTO by BLU.
Berlin was definitely somewhere I need to go back to and explore in more depth, there was so much to see there and it feels so young because of the Berlin wall. Exciting stuff.
